sony pd 170
Hi
I would just like to ask a couple of questions please. 1 Are the heads on the pd170 the same as the ones on the vx2000, and if they are what sort of hours are they capable of if you use dvcam mode as i understand they run faster in this mode. 2 I use a sony pc110 as my playback machine on to my computer. would this cam playback a tape thats been recorded in dvcam mode. 3 How often do you need to use a head cleaning tape. Thanks for your time Ian

The head spin-rate is fixed in either mode. ------------------------ 2 I use a sony pc110 as my playback machine on to my computer. would this cam playback a tape thats been recorded in dvcam mode. --------------- Mine does this OK IIRC. ----------------- 3 How often do you need to use a head cleaning tape. -------------------- Almost never. I only use Sony tape and betwen my cameras and the 10-odd cameras I have under my control, the number of cleanings has to be counted on less than two hands. The 10-odd cameras include VX-1000's and PD1's that are over 7 years old and used by college students. Add quite a few DV/DVCam tape decks that are treated similarly and you can see that the cleaning tapes wear out from sliding around in a desk drawer. Thanks for your time Ian -->>>
