Video Quality: PD170 x VX2100
Is there any difference on video quality between my VX2100 and a PD170?

No. This should answer all other questions and insight about the two models. http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21311&highlight=vx2100+pd170

I agree the answer's no as in shooting a test chart, but out there in the real world there are two differences. The PD170 comes with a 0.7x wide-angle converter and it also has quarter stop increments in the aperture control wheel. If you use manual exposure (and who doesn't?) then in the field the picture quality will be better from the PD170 in that the exposure bumps as the wheel is moved are much less obvious.
