A new PD170 noise
Hi,
I recently bought a PD170 (after doing some test recordings with a PD150 and a Canon XM2/GL2), and since its serial no. was clearly above the last one with the known hiss problem, I was not nervous with audio. On the first recordings I heard not a hum or hiss but some kind of rumble. Put camera on tripod, and after some seconds the rumble was gone. Took it in hand again, rumble. Switched off steady shot, no rumble. So this is the noise coming from the famous optical steady shot one can hear clearly on every recording with the Sony mike on the cam (I know, one does not use that, but for a quick shot it can be useful), even a friend heard it without being warned before. The cam is now at the Sony Silver Support service since June 23, and today they told me at the phone they didn't find anything wrong (I included a CD with the noise isolated)! Now I try to convince them that something is wrong indeed - it's really great to see how professionally this Silver Support is working. Does one of you have a noise coming from the Steady Shot on the PD170? Is this also considered to be normal?
