PD170 vs VX2100
I am probably asking a dumb question, but as I couldn't yet find at least the manuals on line to have a look, what are the main or small diferences between the Sony 170 and the 2100?
No need to mention the balanced mic preamp, as that is the obvious one. As long as you go in with a good preamp signal you could even improve on the 170's mic preamp. The real contenders would be menu setups, lens quality, low light quality, external controls, viewfinders, etc. Carlos |

The PD records DVCAM format, the VX does not; the viewfinders are different.

Lens, glass, electronics are virtually the same. VF are different, audio hookups are different, menus on the 170 make certain things easier to get to. Some of the things you need to go into the menu on the VK2100 are accessable thru external controls on the 170. Image quality is the virtually same.
I say virtually because if theres one little bit of difference no one can say I lied. ;-) Don |

Carlos, there are so many threads on this forum asking that exact question that I'm going to close the thread.
This will get you plenty of information http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/search.ph...der=descending
