VX2000 & PD150 sound
OK Mike - that's is your opinion.... but not everyone thinks so. Since my 1/26/04 posting on my website I have done 4, PD150's and 2, VX2000 modifications.
If anyone is not happy with the sound from their camera they can find additional information at: http://www.gregjwinter.com/modification.htm You can preview the quality of sound you get from the modification by plugging a XLR mic into your favorite mixer that can output at least +4 dBu, use a balanced XLR to unbalanced RCA cable to plug sound into the RCA jacks of either your PD150 or VX2000. Put your camera into VTR mode and hit record. Adjust levels on your mixer so you get about at least +2 dBu when you talk into the mic. Press stop, rewind, and review sound with headphones. The levels will be forced to about -6 dBfs due to AGC in VTR mode, but you can still get a good idea of sound quality from this test. The mod uses the manual gain. -Greg
