Sony PD150 Problems and Repairs

Hi everybody.

I have a PD150 that I still use, but I am having some audio (Static) problems with it and I am also starting to get some errors when I use it to download video to Final Cut. Up until now it has performed flawlessly.

First, has anyone had any audio static problems with their 150/170 and if so, what was the resolution?

Secondly, I found two repair facilities (Other than Sony) that I was thinking about using and was wondering if anyone could recommend either of them:

One is "Video One Repair in California" the other is "AV Repair in Florida".

Any other good, reliable facilities out there?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I used AV Repair in Florida many times for my Sony cameras. They are good.

It seems audio is the first to suffer on my PD150 when the heads are getting dirty... but that comes across more as pops and clicks than static.

Hi Kevin.

Thanks for your comments - that makes sense.

I talked to Cameron at AV Repair this morning. He was very friendly and helpful. We tried to do some troubleshooting over the phone. My camera is on the way to them right now.

I'll let everyone know how it goes if anyone is interested.
