phantom power
What is that "phantom power" some mics require to operate with a camcorder? Are there different kinds of phantom power? Does the Sony VX 2000 has phantom power? Which one would be a good external mic for the VX 2000?

There are some great threads discussing this topic in detail by folks far more knowledgable than I -- do a search and you'll turn them up. The short answer is no, the vx doesn't supply it, but if you buy an xlr adaptor or mixer (one of which you'll need with any mic that needs phantom power) the adaptor or mixer will supply it. I use the new Beachtek xlr 6 that provides it, along with an AT835b mic.
