I use a Lowepro Vidcam 5 for my VX-2000 which includes plenty of room for accessories like two NPF-960 batteries, wide adaptor, beachtek box and other stuff.

I like the backpack style but have my eye on the portabrace case that looks like a carry on bag. I believe it is a csdv3. A backpack would be nice because I could carry other items in it other than the camera. My wife and I traveled to England last year and lived out of our backpacks for a few days. I have not looked at the lowepro vidcam 5 but will have to check it out. I do have a nice doskocil hard case that I use to have my 35mm set up in. I will use it for the time being.

I have a GL2 and really would not consider it or a VX200x for an outdoor type vacation camera. Too expensive, bulky and risky. As an alternative, I bought an Elura 2MC a few years ago for our hiking trips. It goes into a belt pouch so it doesn't get in the way and is easily accessible. We used it in Utah slot canyons that were sometimes 11" wide. The small palm sized cameras are simply great for one hand, run and gun video. Only wish it had OIS.
