How to stop auto shut off

I am wondering how I get my VX2000 to stay on in REC mode. I am using iChat AV and it shuts off after a few minutes...annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Don't put a tape in or leave the tape door open. Might try placing it in picture mode. Don't know how that works though.
