But Barry, does the DVX/DVC's 72mm diameter lens helps to achieve shallower DOF?

The VX2000 is basically unparalleled in its long-life batteries. You can get a good six hours out of a DVC80 if you use the CGR-D54 battery, but the VX2000 can go for 8 or 9 hours on one battery.
