Two Mono Mics Into VX Simultaneously?
Hi,
I can do this, right? The plan is to go to Radio Shack and get a 2 mono 1/8" to 1 stereo 1/8" adapter. I'd plug the stereo end into the VX. Then, I'd plug a wireless receiver into one of the mono channels of the adapter and plug an on-board shotgun into the other channel of the adapter. I could monitor each channel *seperately* with the VX headphone out. And I could pick the better-sounding channel in post. Right? Dave |

Here is what may happen. Bleeding between channels, low volume, impedence problems due to isolation issues.

Hosatech make such a cable for $20, it's 5 ft long and the SKU at B&H is GBYCSMMR2XF5. If you buy the cable it will have the all important 90 deg molded 1/8 stereo plug. Heavier straight plugs stress the jack far too much. One slap or snag and the jack is toast. I jack the right angled plugs in and wrap them with a velcro tie for safety.

Thanks Bryan and Lou.
Bryan, I was wondering if you've actually tried the set up I am considering, and if so, have you noticed any of the channel cross-talk or other problems Lou has mentioned? Dave |
