Cheap Rainsuit for the VX-2000?
What rainsuit would you guys recommend? I don't really want to spend more than $100... anything decent in that price range?

I have one that came with the PD150 camera kit. It works OK. Made by Petrol, I think B&H lists it for $99.
I've used mine in heavy mist. I suppose if I were going to Kodiak or the rain forest, I'd probably want one of the better covers if not one of the underwater enclosures. And an assistant with a golf umbrella which how I normally deal with rain. I run under the umbrella w/o the raincover.

I have ordered the PortaBrace RS PD150 from B&H on Monday. I think its was ~150 US. It better arrive tomorrow, as I leave for a shoot on Saturday.
I have used the Porta Brace Polar Bear(cold whether/ snow with replaceable heaters/hand warmers) for the PD150 while shooting in Salt Lake during the Olympics and I loved it. So I hope the Rain Slicker works just as well. I will let you know how it works when I return at the end of the month. Then there is always the plastic bags with rubberbands........ ;o) which by the way I always carry with me on a outdoor shoot Always be prepared.

Update on the PortaBrace Rain Slicker for the PD150.
Well the second package from B&H arrived 2 hours before I ran to the airport for my BC trip. Good thing I waited for it. It rained for 3 days straight! Solid continious cold rain. The PortaBrace Rain Slicker worked GREAT! Never had a problem shooting in a downpour. Easy access to all the controls and even a cover to use the LCD. It stayed on the camera for 5 days, only coming off at night to wipe down the unit. Being on a boat for 3 of the 4 days fishing in saltwater, the Slicker proved valuable in protecting the PD150 from salt spray and boat spoo.

Mark Does the Portabrace allow access to the shoe mount on top of the handle and would it be possible to have a XLR box attached to the bottom of the cam? I'm dealing with a VX2k here not the 150 and i know the covers are model specific but just curious in general.

I've been trying to decide which raincover to get for a while now, Mark. You just helped me make up my mind.

Yes you can get to the shoe on top of the handle. I dont think you could get a box on the bottom. As it is now the bottom of the slicker has a velcro strip all along the bottom and would seal with a box. Now having said that, if you know a good shoe repair shop, they can sew a "boot" that could use that same velro system the slicker has now. REspectfully Mark
