Diffrence between MiniDV and DVCam tape
I don't have a PD-150 yet but it says it will do DVCam. Is that a diffrent type of tape? Can you record longer on a DVCAM tape or is the quality better?
Thanks! -Mark |

Different package and different tape. The length of the recording, for any specific length of tape is different between DV and DVCam. You get 1/3 less record time if you have the PD150 in DVCam mode. There is no difference in image quality. DVCam, because it has a wider record width, is said to be more reliable. In practical terms that has little meaning when you are using a NLE system.

Biggest difference is the price. If you really want to pay more, buy the DVCam tape. Otherwise I doubt that you will notice a difference.
