Routine Maintenance
I have a Sony DSR 250 that is a little over two years old now. The camera is used a lot, but right now it seems to be working fine. The only problem I have had with it recently was some audio dropouts that went away after running a cleaning tape through it. However, this did have me worried that there might be some debris in the tape path.
My questions are now that I have some down time coming up with the holidays, would it be wise to send the camera into Sony for a professional cleaning and checkup? Does anyone else here do this? And if so what type of service do you request? Thanks! |

Most heavy use professional cameras get a cleaning, lubrication and alignment check done once per year.
Sony is very expensive as they charge a flat-rate. The local pro camcorder repair (not the corner tv repair) should be able to do this at a reasonable cost.
