PD170... Gain Settings?
Hi
I'm using a PD170 this weekend... never used it before and I have only had 10 mins to look at the unit today! (aghhh..) It appears that if I want to lock the Gain to 0 or 6dB, I put the unit into its non -auto lock mode, press the gain button on the back of the camera and set it to "0dB". Great. But if I then press the gain button again (accidentally) it seems to revert to the Auto mode? Is this right? It I switch to Lock mode, then I can't adjust the aperture.... With something like Gain I want it locked off ... but have access to other controls too. Am I missing anything? Thanks in advance Lee |

It is to my understanding that you cannot lock off a single item like gain or shutter or iris. You should adjust all of your settings to the way you like them and then put it in lock mode to preserve these settings.

On the 170 to keep the settings you want all must be in manual which means you need to see the shuuter spped, f/stop, gain settings and WB in the VF or LCD. If any of thoses is set to AUTO or you do what you did with the gain button it will default. So IOW, you must run the camera manually.
