Camera/Computer issue at DVinfo.net

Hi, I have a used Sony DCRVX2000 that i just bought and a Computer that i just had built. I have never been able yet to download video via the firewire port to the computer. So i took it to the local video shop to have the firewire port replaced, so now the computer recognizes the camera but i get an error message saying the camera has no cassette in it. I am almost positive that the problem is a setting somewhere on the camera or maybe even the computer, but lost as to specifically which one. Vegas is the editing platform but it wont even recognize the camera is connected. So i have been trying to capture the video with Windows Movie Maker. Anyone with any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
