1394 cables: offbrand vs. Monster? really make a difference?
I'm just wondering how important is it to have a Monster-brand IEEE 1394 (Firewire, Ilink, etc) cable between your cam and your PC-based NLE (like Premiere). It seems to me that the Monster cables, which are more expensive, are really just hype. After all, IEEE 1394 is a standard, which means all cables made as 1394 cables must meet this IEEE standard. So while the Monster cables might have gold tips for better contact, it is really just an advertising gimick and any IEEE 1394 cable is IEEE-certified and will perform the same.
What do you all think?
