Known Problem with X10

This is a stupid problemn with the X10 that sony will NOT own up to... The only way I've found to work around this is to buy "scenalyzer" With this you can also capture in Type 2 AVI's with a better codec and not compress to microsoft AVI until you have to... This is the only way I can see to get around the problem. The software is also cheap... Hope this helps...

Well I'm not sure whether you're properly placing the blame on Sony. Audio works properly in FCP on the Mac without any special drivers or software. To me that would imply a problem with the Windows firewire drivers, but of course I really don't know for sure.

But the problem has been discussed here at length. See the following threads:

Maybe the PDX10 wrote to the tape in DVCam format and the JVC is designed to play back only the MiniDV format?

Try playing it back directly from the PDX10 and see what happens.

Claudio, I use Adobe Premier Pro and am very happy with it. I capture my footage using Scenlyzer, just because it's a bit simpler and I am accustomed to it.

Hope that helps--

Which Software

hey happy new year to everyone

regarding your question to which sotware works well

i have all types of editing software i am like a jack of all trades

ulead mspro8 wont capture the audio properly

i have also tried premiere and it didnt (think is 6.5 though)

Avid dv 4.5 and avid pro does work with it properly

what i do to capture to progams that give trouble with the audio ifrom the pdx10 is

from my deck jvc brdv3000u i use the s video and left and right audio which are rca to a canon zr40 or analog to digital converter e.g. canopus or ads then use the firewire from the converter to my cpu

actually i added a audio mixer between the jvc deck and the converter so i adjust audio on the fly is kinda primative but it works

but other than that problem the video and audio is great from this camcorder

oh i did try the scenalyzer software it worked great but i still have to get myself a copy

NOTE WHEN I SAY IT DIDNT WORK I DONT MEAN THE EDITNG SOFTWARE DIDNT WORK ALL OF THESE EDITING PACKGES WORKED FINE THE PROBLEM IS THE CAPTUREING OF AUDIO IN THAT MIXED MONO MODE WHERE U CANT SEPARATE CHANNEL 1 FROM CHANNEL 2
