PDX10 -> XL2: Upgrade in the Making
So now that has been announced offically that the XL2's DSP bit depth is 12-bit. It makes me really consider paying those extra $3000+ for a 24/16:9/12-bit DSP camera.
Maybe in a year... Juani |

From all that I've seen and read, the XL-2 would be a terrific PDX-10 upgrade. But of course there's the price... And if I were going the XL-2 route I'd certainly want a manual lens. Looks like a nice camera (but too bad they opted to continue the "sports look" instead of something more subdued like black or dark grey).
Right at the moment I have no good excuse to upgrade though, and I'm also interested to see how Sony's 3-chip HDV camera pans out. That prototype looked really fascinating. Will it have a native 16:9 LCD panel? Will it have true manual zoom and focus like the pegged rings implied? All that plus the ability to choose SD or HDV output would make this a really interesting option. Guess we'll have a bit of a wait to learn anything though.... |
