PDX-10 'Upgrade'?

Hi,

by now most of us will have seen the announcement of the Pd-150 replacement - the PD-170. Nothing revolutionary, just some minor improvements and bug fixes. Can we expect the same for the pdx-10? Anybody heard anything or is the pdx-10 too recent a model to warrant any such move by Sony?

thanks,

DW.

Sony has made incremental improvements to their cameras in the past. The DSR200 spawned a DSR200A, the PD100 saw a PD100A, and now the PD150 has seen a PD170 (although the upgrades in PD150 to PD170 are much more significant than the minor modifications made to the DSR200 and PD100). So maybe there will be a PDX10A, but it'll probably be quite a while before any changes may be made.

But what would you guys look for if you upgraded the PDX-10 to a 10A? What needs fixing?

Tell you what I'd like to see on this semi-pro camcorder. A switchable ND filter, apertures in the viewfinder as you shoot, bigger NPF batteries, a six bladed diaphragm and a decent wide-angle converter included.

Well fancy that - I've described the previous PD100.

More for the wishlist

Better low light sensitivity, a reflective mode display like the one on the PD170 and some previous Sony digicams, real switchable setup, less info so you can actually see what you are recording in the LCD and BWVF, more brightness control for the BWVF, locked audio when in DV-SP mode, switchable letterboxed output option, seperate audio channel switchable NR, 4 audio channel recording mode, real proscan, more exposure steps (like PD170), less vertical smear... oh and HDV video mode :-)
