Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
Hi RX10 users,
Anyone care to share their camera settings for video use. I have been playing around for a while with the RX10 but I'm sure people that have been using the camera for some time might have some setting, setups that might help. Cheers |

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
I feel that this little camera has ben overlooked and man it's packed with almost all the features one could want in a small camera.
I've been playing around with many settings and there are heaps but have found if I have the camera set on the top dial to M and then the bottom front switch to DMP I get up to 17.1 focus check. I also have peaking set as well. What a great feature. |

Same forum, actually -- different thread is all.
And it's a long one, at 11 pages. Nothing wrong (in fact, everything right!) with dedicating a separate thread to the topic. |

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
I edit in Avid MC and still the old FCP7
If you editing XAVCS in Avid your going to have an issue as Avid can't AMA link nor import the XAVCS codec. FCP7 has the same issue i think, haven't tested FCP7 yet. What I have to do is use the Play Memories software from Sony to get the XAVCS file of the card and then I need to convert these files into either ProRes or DNXHD. There seems to be a few software apps that will convert XAVCS into whatever codec one chooses. These start from $30 upward. I have chosen EditReady : Transcoding Without The Hassle - divergent media |

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
XAVCS will import just fine in most up to date NLE's, about settings of the rx10, I just use the standard ones, haven"t changed anything so far and like the image a lot during daytime, when I use the camera at weddings I"m not that happy once I end up shooting in dark venues and I have to increase the iso, the footage starts to look grainy and mushy and skintones look yellowish, even with a fixed indoor WB. Then I prefer my GH3/4.
Below a video that was entirely shot on the rx10: |

After watching your videos ans saw what you were doing I finaly purchased the RX10. I think for a small camera it suits me, it's got a few issues but I can work around these for what I do.

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
You can always shoot AVCHD @28Mbps, 60p...
XAVCS of course means faster bigger cards and higher bitrates (currently 50Mbps, but rumor has it that we may see 100Mbps in a March firmware update....), so you have to be willing to make a few adjustments, but this is the price of progress! Now if Sony just would step up and enable 4K... gotta keep the dream alive! |

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
That would be nice in a new firmware update. Sadly I had to return my camera due to a lens issue.
I would zoom in or out and the zoom was jumping all over the place with a big jump halfway through the zoom range. Also I would zoom in, pull focus and zoom out in manual mode and the camera had a back focus issue. My understanding is the RX10 is a Parfocal lens? The shop I returned this to said every lens has some movement in it and the focus was NOT a Parfocal lens. I think I'm getting the stitch up here with my return and that they won't repair or replace, time will tell. |

Re: Anyone care to share their camera Sony RX10 camera settings
My camera also had some issues with the lens returning to it's last zoom position when I switched in on again, not that this was a big deal, in fact in some situations I preferred that but it was not normal behavior is it comes and goes.
About the lens being parfocal, not sure if that was in the specifications? My Canon xh-a1 had a parfocal lens and was a very usefull feature while shooting danceperformances, it was also the last camera I owned that had a parfocal lens...:) Unless the rx10 has such a lens but I doubt that, haven't tested it though. |

Hey, can you do a focus test on your RX10 Noa. Manual focus, zoom in focus, zoom out. Is everything still in focus.
