FS100 image quality & low light
Many people said that FS100 is great on low light and image quality. And the video sample from other FS100 users are also great. I bought one and i notice that the image quality and low light aren't very impressed. I will still think that 5D's video is much sharper than the FS100... or maybe i am wrong.
Low light, yes it may be better than traditional camcorder, but i still see little noise even at low iso/gain. I think it can just around the same to match 5Dmk2's low light. I hope i am wrong, anyone knows any trick to get sharper image? I see people use kit lens and the image is still very sharp. I use 5D mk2, 24-105mm, FS100 with 18-200mm, 16mm F2.8 |

Did you use a picture profile? Out-of-the-box both my nx5 & fs100 aren't great. You can dial in the look you want, baked-in or flat for post-grading.

Re: FS100 image quality
It's miles awy frm the 5D in low light. On the 5D, the max usable ISO was 1600. I shoot often at 8000 ISO on the FS100 and I have less noise and better color reproduction compared to the 5D at 1600 ISO. So it is at least 2 1/3 stops better in low light for me.
It is sharper. Period. but because of the false details and aliassing of the 5D, on certain scenes, it might look less sharp. Personnally, I prefer this look, but if you waht, a bit of sharpening in post will make your images looks as sharp as you want.

Re: FS100 image quality
canon fd 35mm @ 2.8, iso 1600, very low light, magic bullet look (blockbuster at 30%) you will see there is still noise in the video, specially the black area is it normal? i even try use a voigtlander 35mm 1.4 @ iso 500, the dark area still see the noise. when i watch other's video, the black is very dark and solid |

Re: FS100 image quality
Just try to compare both cameras with the same lens.
And then compare the images from both cameras. |
