Test footage from camera - I love this thing
Well the NEX arrived yesterday and I played with the camera all day yesterday at work.
I set up 2 custom picture profiles as per Doug's training DVD (shot on PP2) and walked around the lobby at work shooting the early Christmas decor. Someone waiting for the train decided to play the piano for 3 hours in the lobby and I shot about 20m of him tickling the ivories. He was amazing, his name was George Gagliardi, http://www.georgegagliardi.com I set up the gain for +9, +12, +18 because the light is really poor inside and I am using the stock lens. I can see the need for a long fast zoom with constant aperture for sure now, but the camera is just amazing, even with the stock lens. It's a little tricky getting used to push/pull manually without any servo, but it got easier as the day went on. The shoot is indoors is a mix of natural daylight and indoor light, so the color temperature was set manually to around 4400K if I recall, which looked nice and rich. I used the eyepiece a lot at first, but the screen indoors with no eyepiece was a dream to use. Audio is straight from the stock sony shotgun mic, which surprised me. Nice quality for a stock mic! Have a great holiday. Feedback welcome. 11/23/11: Christmas Decorations @ Union Station -- Kansas City, Missouri | Chamber TV on blip.tv Scott Caplan |

Thanks for that, Scott. Very nicely done and beautiful images. You've helped me move into the holiday mood a bit early. That made me pull out my SACD copy of Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" album.

Nice! What a beautiful image from the camera. And the sound quality is surprisingly good from the stock mic.
