Shooting 60P and FCP workflow FS100
I need some advice with shooting 1080 60p and editing in FCP with the FS100. 1st question would be do I need to shoot 60p? I just assumed this would achieve the best quality over 60i or 30p. Now I realize FCP 7 appears to not support 1080 60p in the sequence settings. What is the easiest way to get my current 1080 60p footage into fcp and work with it? The final output will be Blu-Ray.

Re: Shooting 60P and FCP workflow FS100
Check out ClipWrap - the latest version ensures the audio gets included. I always have it transcode to ProRes. These can go straight into FCP7 - drag them to an empty sequence and you'll get 1080p60.
Why shoot 1080p60? Hmmm - well, the next fashion after 'The Film Look' is probably going to be 'The HD Look' - new films being shot at 48fps, so we're going to get used to more fluid action, faster shutter speeds and the 'look through a window' feel over the 'look at a screen'. Another pointer is that, certainly in the EU, HD TV was always meant to be 1080p50 or 1080p60, and the use of interlace was just a 'waypoint' as there wasn't the bandwidth in the broadcast chain. So, if you're shooting with any thought for future broadcast, 1080p60 may be a good bet. However, the silky smooth 'videoish' motion has been devalued recently, and I've checked out 1080p50 to 720p25, and there's something about it that isn't quite natural 720p - but here I go again, nothing 'wrong' with that, just a slightly different look.
