AVCHD archiving
I think I need to understand a little more about AVCHD files. I can easily import files from either an SDHC card or an external drive backup made from the FS-100 or from the FMU into either FCP 7 or FCPX.
Typically I'll archive material by making an appropriately named directory on an archive hard drive and copying the files (the entire file structure of those mentioned above) into that directory (NOT the FCPX camera archives, that's just what I'm calling the drive). In FCP 7 I can open and import the media from the archive drive. In FCPX I can't seem to do that, regardless of trying to import as from camera or from file. I can copy the same material from the directory I created BACK onto a single drive and then it will be visible and importable in FCPX from that drive with nothing else on it. I tried moving the material on the archive drive to the top level of the archive drive and out of a directory but that didn't work. So, short of moving lots of stuff around, how can you make the material on the archive drive visible and importable in FCPX? Thanks, John |
