Kit Lens Available?
Is the 18-300 Sony kit lens available anwhere in the USA? I bought the camera at BH, but they don't have the lens yet.

Re: Kit Lens Available?
I bought the FS100 2 weeks ago when the stock 18-200mm lens was available. I don't love that lens due to its not being fast enoug - f3.5 to 6.3 as it zooms. I rented a Nikkor f2.8 70-200 lens today, which can give much more limited depth of field as I need, is very sharp, and has good vibration reduction.Expensive as all get out too... I will happily sell the stock lens immediately. It has less than 1/2 hour of studio use. It's in completely mint condition and is a good lens, just not what I need for shooting with this camera.

Re: Kit Lens Available?
If you use a Nikon lens with an adapter, can the camera still control autofocus, iris and zoom?

Re: Kit Lens Available?
Paul,
Right now I'm using nikon primes and a Tokina 28-70 2.8 (nikon version) with the Nikon to Sony adapter from Fotodiox. The iris can only be controled by the lens itself ( manual iris ring). Also there's no autofocus with these lenses, or image stabilization. The camera does communicate the shutter speed, gain, etc. I'm thinking about the sony kit lens (18-200) , or the sigma mentioned in the other thread. I wish Birger would come out with the Canon adapter soon, because I have mostly Canons. Bruce Yarock |

Re: Kit Lens Available?
I got the camera monday. About the kit lens, while I am still happy to have it since I still consider it great value, the lens is crap.
The zoom and focus rings have been inverted (the zoom ring is on the front of the lens) and the lens zooms bacward. You have to turn clockwise to zoom... WTF? I never seen a lens like this. My brain find it difficult to accomodate with this behavior. And the focus ring have no hard stop, not even like the L lens where the resistance change a bit if you came to the end, it's smooth even if you have reached one end. BUT, it's really inexpensive to have this range, this sharpness, and the OIS.

This may be a dumb question, so brace yourselves...
Does the kit lens work with LANC zoom controllers? |

Re: Kit Lens Available?
I tried my Canon ZR-1000. Zoomming doesn't work obviously, but focus works great. Start/stop and on screen display too.

Re: Kit Lens Available?
Will zooming with LANC controllers not work if the lens isn't built in? Or does the lens need some sort of electronics built in to allow for that (servo zoom)?
