Sometimes it's better to self-service. The parts are still way more expensive than they should be, but if you're careful, you have little to fear.

Equipment failure is the worst.

I suspect that the labor is only one hour and the part is $600. That prevents non-Sony people from fixing cameras at a substantially lower price

You should see my repair bill for my FS700 last August. almost 3 times the cost of yours. Yup.....Sucks. At least the cam can get back to work.

Kinda feel dumb for asking, but what is the part that failed? All I get from the attachment is an obscure part number that I don't know what it is.
