Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

Hi,
I'd like to know your thought.
In your opinion does Sony NX5/AX2000 give a sharp (definition) picture? Is it above or below average?
About colorimetry I think it is a little bit reddish.
What are your suggestions? May be to set Color -1 do I will get better colours?
Thanks

Try all the settings until you find you have an image that pleases you. There is no one good setting that pleases everyone, we all see things differently. Simply play with the camera settings until you are happy with the image.

Re: Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

Can I know your taste, please?
I'd like to adjust in-camera sharpening "+2". In your opinion will it be a good choise?
thanks

No, reduce sharpening is the general rule with HD Video, try it, and see. Every HD camera that I have, has the sharpening knocked down

I don't understand fine. Do you mean I have to choise "- 2"?

Re: Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

No, you have to choose exactly what you find acceptable. Most HD video cameras and DSLRs need the sharpening taken down, to take away the harsh edges. Some people dont bother to do this, but it is generally accepted that sharpening on HD cameras needs reducing. Try a few adlustments yourself, and playback the footage on an HDMI TV, you will see the difference. Just keep tweaking the adjustments until you are happy. Its the easiest way of getting to know your camera.

About colorimetry I think it is a little bit reddish. Has it sense to set Ax 200 with colour "-1"?

Try it and see. Try white balancing with a true white card, if you are using normal white paper or card, it normally has a blue tint to it, this can cause the colours to appear slightly warm. Just adjust until you are happy with the image

Re: Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

You are right but I cannot do it. I have to use the "Preset".

Again, I dont understand why you say you cannot do it. Simply start with a custom preset and adjust it to your liking. The preset adjustments on the NX5 are very deep, and comprehensive.
If you mean WB custom preset, why do you feel you have to use it ?

.... because in my documentaries the scenes last often around 4-5 seconds and I have to use WB preset.
I cannot lost time to do WB.

Unless the light is changing, you wouldnt need to re balance between takes. If it is changing, you have no choice but to re balance, its the same with every camera.

Re: Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

Is the question here how sharp are these cameras compared to other cameras or is it how contrasty should the picture be?
It is just as sharp as, say and EX1 but the EX1 has more latitude and so is sharp at f-stops that start the soften the NX5/AX2000. If it's a question of how should one tweak one's camera, that's taste or dictated by the project.

Re: Sony NX5/AX2000 gives a sharp picture?

The NX5U looks horrible right out of the box with default settings. The first time I shot with mine I was sick toy stomach thinking I threw away money on a camera that looked worse than my HD1000U. However, after going in and setting up the picture profiles, the camera puts out an amazing image. My advice is to play with the picture profiles and max out the DETAIL setting to sharpen the picture. I can post my settings later.
