720p/60 footage stutters in Premiere Pro Cs5
Hello: I have recently purchased a NX5U and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. Prem Pro plays and edits raw 1080p/24 footage very well. However, when playing/editing 720p/60 recordings, it jumps/stutters about every 2 seconds. In comparison, I played/edited the same recording in Final Cut Express. FCE played the clips just fine (of course after waiting for log/transfer of raw file). If anyone has any wisdom to share, please guide me. Thank you.

The processor isn't powerful enough to decode and play the 720P60 AVCHD file smoothly. You will need a more powerful machine to play all the AVCHD files native.

I did not know that AVCHD 720p/60 was more intensive on the processor than 1080p/24. Now I'll be saving for a better computer.
Thank you Ron for the help. |

Re: 720p/60 footage stutters in Premiere Pro Cs5
It is not a lot more data crunching but is likely enough to make a difference. For 720P60 the computer has to decode 60 frames a second but for 24P only 24 frames a second. Although the total number of pixels decoded is only a little more for 720P60 it has to be in at 60 frames a second. There is only 1/60 sec for the computer to decode. For 24p there is more than twice as long for the computer to decode each frame.
