Macbook Pro as an external monitor
Can I use my Macbook Pro as an external monitor. I tried going from the USB output to the Mac but nothing is detected. What about component out? Nothing there either.
Any ideas? Thanks John |

Re: Macbook Pro as an external monitor
Hello John,
I d not believe this can be done out of the box without additional material. I've just ordered a Matrox MXO2 Mini Max, this unit has a HDMI input port, I will see if that does the trick.

Good job on the Matrox Max Dan! I'm anxious to see what that thing can do combined with the NX!

Re: Macbook Pro as an external monitor
Hi John,
I do not know the camera you are using but I have a MacBook Pro and an accessory called EyeTV. I use this to watch and record TV programs. It also has Composite and S-video inputs. I do some Infrared red work using monochrome cameras. These cameras have composite outputs so that I can see (and record) what the camera is seeing on the MacBook. Black Magic market a similar device called the Video Recorder that has a component output as well. I prefer the EyeTV as I can get a full frame picture. |

John (Snyder) Hi Dan, Did the Matrox MXO2 Mini Max do the trick? Alastair |

Re: Macbook Pro as an external monitor
At this moment, it does not.
I have not been able to get the image coming the HDMI port of the camera onto my MacBook Pro. I have to find the right preference parameters, this is going to take me a little while. I've tried for about an hour and have been unsuccessful. I would have thought it would have been much easier.
