question about controlling headset volume

Just received the camera today and have been digesting all the audio controls. Maybe I missed it in the manual, but after you plug in the headset to monitor your live sound as you are recording, how do you control the headset volume? I don't think you are turning the two audio dials because that should be controlling the volume of incoming sound.

So can someone point me to how you control the volume being output to the headset?

Is it something on the touch screen that becomes active only after it detects a headset has been plugged in?

Thanks, John

Hello John,

I do not have my camera in front of me. However, when you open the LCD screen, there are two volumes button (+ and -).

This information can be found in page 49 of the user manual, not much information provided on that subject.

Did you try with those two volume buttons?

Like Daniel said, try the two volume buttons once you flip open the LCD screen. They control playback volume from the on-camera speaker, but when headphones are plugged into the camera, these buttons will control the headphone level.

I had the same scratching my head kind of moment too when I first plugged headphones into the camera and got no sound. Turns out I had turned the playback volume all the way down earlier.

No, you can absolutely adjust the volume for playback AND for the headphones. The volume buttons adjust the level for both.

When headphones are plugged in, the volume buttons work that level.
When no headphones are plugged in, the volume buttons adjust the playback level from the camera's speaker.

headset volume solved

Thanks for the posts on this thread. Indeed the volume controls on the top handle did the trick though the instruction manual is not at all clear about it!
