Steppin' with the AX-2000

Hi all,

I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this camera. Today's assignment took me to a regional step-dance competition held in a small, renovated 1940s-era theater. I knew the lighting might be iffy in there for some of the interviews and b-roll, but the camera handled every lighting situation pretty well. Oh, and props to my new Rode NTG-1 microphone - I debuted it at this assignment and it worked beautifully. Much better side- and rear-noise rejection than my previous mike (stolen off my HVR-V1U).

Very nice Sherri,

What was the setup (filming and recording) you have been using with the camera?

Also, which video editing software are you using?

Daniel,

I shot in 1080/60i mode, with the iris and shutter speed in auto mode, but with a manual white balance and manual gain control (I had it set to 0). Actually, I have shot all of my assignments using this set-up. I usually let the camera make some choices for me until I get proficient enough to make the right choices on my own...:)

As for editing, I use Premiere Pro CS4.

thanks for the video, Sherri. I was very impressed with what the cam could do in some of those lighting situations.

I just got the AX2K a few days ago and a Rode NTG-2 today but I won't have a chance to go out in the field to test it out for a few days but your video has made it harder for me to be patient!
