Have you looked at your "Finder Preferences" ? What about the cable, is it possible you have a faulty USB cable? I have been connecting and disconnecting my FMU128 drives many times today and did not have any issues with the MacBook Pro recognizing it. Regards!

I have no problems getting my Macbook Pro recognizing the fmu128 drive.
