In place of Vegas you can also use Sony's 'Content Browser' to bring footage in from the camera or a card reader but again NOT FROM A HARD DRIVE. Content Management Utility is the only software I have found that can import and stitch together AVCHD files directly from a hard drive but on the proviso that the entire PRIVATE folder is there. If I have numerous cards I just create a set of numbered job name folders and drop each cards' Private folder into its own job name folder. The Content Management Utility program should be on the CD that came with your camera. From memory the camera has to be connected for installation to take place.
