Political ad shot w/ VG20
Shot this last week with the Sony VG20. Sound recorded w/ a shot gun mic and Tascam DR40. Lens was the Rokinon 35mm for canon via a cheap ebay adapter. Very happy with the result (as was the client - the most important part):

Thanks! She sure has my vote (even if I didn't do her ad).

John very nice.
I don;t know if this was shot on a tripod, but if not, that would be my only critique, as there was bit of camera sway going on. But overall nice sound and production value. |

Michael -
Rewatch the commercial again - what you're seeing is a very slow dolly shot. The camera actually moves about 3 feet total. Not perfectly smooth (it's a DIY slider I made), but I think it works. |

Re: Political ad shot w/ VG20
I'm getting ready to start a Political Ad campaign, consisting of 2, 30second spots. I want to use my VG20 also. Could you tell me what all your final spec were in camera and then what the specs were for rendering out, and what were the Broadcast specs. nay issues to be aware of?
Thanks, Leon |

John
I think the slow, slow dolly is a very nice touch. It's almost subliminal, but effectively adds ambience to what would otherwise be the typical boring head shot. Good job!!

Re: Political ad shot w/ VG20
Thanks!
And nope, she lost.... but one of the people who ran against her (it was a primary) hired me for the election proper, and that client did win. |
