EA-50 ISO test to compare other cameras
Hi Guys
I did a quick ISO noise test in controlled conditions for my EA-50 with a Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 lens at both 25P 1/25th shutter and then at 50P 1/50th shutter so I could get an idea what are useable ISO's with either format and of course to compare them with possible other cameras as I'm still looking to downsize. Roger could your FZ200 (based on the great frame grabs you gave me) equal these ISO levels and if they do the FZ1000 would obviously do even better with it's bigger sensor. Any input would be greatly appreciated It would be great if the FZ1000 could equal this performance!! Chris |

Re: EA-50 ISO test to compare other cameras
Hi Chris,
Your frame grab shows ISO 640, is that actually 6400? If it is 6400, I wouldn't even attempt a grab at that sensitivity on the FZ200 as with the much smaller imaging sensor it would just be mush. I would not push the FZ200 above ISO 1200 which is one of the reasons I decided to move on to the FZ1000 Roger Last edited by Roger Gunkel; June 17th, 2015 at 03:42 AM. Reason: typo |

Re: EA-50 ISO test to compare other cameras
Hi Roger
That's just the frame that YouTube grabs when you upload the video ! If you watch the whole video (only 60 seconds) there are 12 x 5 second clips. The first 6 run from 400ISO to 6400ISO at 25P 1/25th shutter .. the second 6 are from 640 ISO to 6400 ISO at 50P 1/50th shutter ... I just wanted to see what the FZ200 image looked like at a higher ISO ... the FZ1000 should be better ... Sadly as you know we have poor lighting at weddings so I wanted to find out what the usable ISO was (without too much video noise) The EA-50 hits it limit (my opinion) at 3200 Chris |
