EA50 Color Match Question
Hello guys, a few days ago I start working on my first short and I have a bit of a delimma. I shot with my EA50 and my AX2000 cameras. The EA50 image is on the left and the AX2000 is on the right. Can you guys help with how I can match the color in this scene from both cameras?

Re: EA50 Color Match Question
I would say that you shot that on the "no profile" setting so you need to lift the black level just a tad and then if needed change saturation. If you are still shooting change the profile to ITU709 (PP3) and it might need a tiny saturation boost but it will definitely match the AX a LOT better.
On no profile the EA-50 crushes the blacks far too much. What edit software are you using? I can only help on Sony Vegas but essentially you need firstly to "un crush" the blacks but be careful ..by doing that you will also lose contrast quickly so you only want to raise the level so it just lifts in on a waveform scope just clear of zero. Re: EA50 Color Match Question
Thank you for the reply. I use the creative suit CS6 & CC. I tried to find the waveform in premiere pro but I must be over looking it somehow. I will search it so that I can make the adjustments.

Re: EA50 Color Match Question
Great help... I wish I had two EA50's and this would not be as much of a problem I think. Anyway I found this video to be extremely helpful. I have a gruesome busy schedule currently and have not gotten around to this project in the editing capacity just yet. I have watched this video a number of times and will continue to watch it more and dive in for color correcting. I also got a book Color Correction Handbook, Second Edition. I bought the paperback. I hope it may be helpful to someone that is in my shoes looking to get better at color correction.
The link above is chapter 4 of this book with color pages - Can't beat free! i do have the whole paperback in hopes it teaches me some skill to the art. |
