Sony NEX-EA50UH Camcorder with 18-200mm Servo Zoom Lens
Am I the only one to note the camera price has dropped to $3200?

It dropped in Australia from $4600 down to $3888 ...That's pretty normal for sales as they like to catch us tech heads when the camera first comes out. It will probably stay around the $3400 mark in the USA now

Re: Sony NEX-EA50UH Camcorder with 18-200mm Servo Zoom Lens
I ordered the camera last week from B&H for $3,199, it should be in today...excited to use a camera with a proper video body, I've been working with Canon 5D Mark IIs & IIIs the last few years and I can't stand the limitations that come with working with those cameras.

Paul,
My joke is "An EA50 is everything a 5D owner wishes his camera was." And it is just a joke, not trying to insult or start a debate! Steve

Re: Sony NEX-EA50UH Camcorder with 18-200mm Servo Zoom Lens
Yea, I've seen/read from various sources that it's not as good low light sensitivity as the Mark III but I heard it's about on par if not better than the Mark II? I'm going to test it out tonight when I get home, if anything I figure if I pair it with some faster prime lenses it should meet/exceed my expectations.

Re: Sony NEX-EA50UH Camcorder with 18-200mm Servo Zoom Lens
No, I agree...been shooting with 5D Mark IIs for about the last 3 years and more recently with the Mark IIIs...I've never gotten over what a hassle it is to shoot with them...i.e. audio, clip length, rigging, etc. So I'm excited to get my hands on the EA50, even if it is less light sensitive than the Mark III I don't think it will matter much for me because I always tried to limit my ISO to 2000 on both the Mark II & the Mark III

Re: Sony NEX-EA50UH Camcorder with 18-200mm Servo Zoom Lens
Did some "low light" tests with the EA50...in room with one night light on and shooting with a Nikkor AI 50mm f/1.8 lens at f/1.8, I tested ISOs 2000, 2500, 3200, 4000, and 5000. My observations are pretty good up to 3200 ISO, I start seeing noise that is obvious at 4000 & 5000 but it's not "terrible" noise like on say an older small chip camera like the Sony V1U (image goes to hell above 9db on that one). It's no FS100 but I'm pleased with the low light sensitivity of this camera so far in the half a day I've had/been playing with it.

All very true from a functionality point of view but has anyone managed to capture skin tones as nicely as the canons do, I have tried lots of pp's but always find there is too much red

If found below test Chris B. did that gives a good indication of what the nex line of camera's can do compared to the first gen canon dslr's. I know it's a vg20 that was used but I expect similar performance on the vg30 or ea50.

I've modified (I think it's PP5) and reduced the amout of red, turns out pretty decent. But tend to reduce it further in post though.
