Direct Copy to External USB Media

I just ran across the feature where you can plug in an external drive directly to the camera and copy over contents. Its a great feature, but its a pain to access. I had to turn off/on my camera with it plugged in to access it, and after I copied over the contents I couldn't pull it back up again without powering off/on the camera.

Has anyone else tried this option?
