tape not running
Hi there,
It might be because my English isn't good enough, but the manual can't help me although I think it must be a simple thing. When I press the recording button, the cam tells me it is recording, but the time indicator stays at 00:00:00. The tape does not run. The recording unit was not even attached. Why does the cam tells me "REC" although it is not recording at all? What have I done wrong? I'm pretty sure that's all it is, but I can't find it. Please guys, help me out. Re: tape not running
Just found out the tape did run, but it started like five minutes later for some reason.
Now I tried out. Pressed rec button, tape is recording. It does respond right away now. The timecode still does not run though. I must have changed something is the settings without realising that. I wanna see a running timecode when the cam is recording. And why did it not record yesterday for 5 minutes, but it DID transport the tape? Tally light were on, in the display it said "REC". Then I think the cam is running and recording in the right way. It was a used tape, and for 5 minutes there is still the old material. Then I get what I wanted to film yesterday. But I missed the first 5 minutes... customer not happy...

Re: tape not running
I've never had that happen on my Z7, so not sure what happened.
Are you recording to CF card too? To me, that is the biggest advantage to the Z7 is that you get two recordings at the same time. Check your display settings, that could influence the 00:00:00, but I don't know of a setting where it wouldn't count. I'd test the camera out with a couple more tapes to see if it happens again & possibly try to reset the camera settings & run a head cleaner through the camera.
