What version of Premiere are you using?
I've pulled in some clips from my Z7 through Premiere w/o much trouble. Should be the same process you pull footage from P2 or XDCam EX.

Re: converting IDX or M2T files to AVI??
Jake, I've had the same issue with Premiere not recognizing the camera, so when I capture from tape, I capture through Final Cut and then bring my MOV files into Premiere.
As for your M2T question, there's some relatively inexpensive software out there called "Clip Wrap" which will wrap your M2T files with a QuickTime extension so that they'll play nicely with older versions of Premiere (CS4 and CS5 both accept the M2T files without any trouble though), but then you'd have to use another program (maybe Mpeg Streamclip?) to convert the MOV to AVI. Hope this helps!
