Z7U CF and Avid audio issue

Recently started using a Z7 and recording to both 16 gb CF cards and minidv tape as back up. It's worked great, until this week. Shot an hour long session, no breaks so it's all one clip, 59 minutes long. used the Sony Utility to transfer to the HD. Import into Avid Media Composer 3.5 and all looks well, but the final 3:38 or audio is static. It's fine on the tape, and if I open the M2T file in Squeeze the audio is fine, so it's something happening upon import into Avid.

Anyone experience this situation, is it just the length of the clip? I'm finding a work around, but converting the last couple minutes using Squeeze and then editing them together, but wondering if I missed something upon the import.

Bill, I've brought Z7 and Z5 video, DV and HDV, into Avid 3.5 without that problem. if you're getting the same audio dropout from both tape and file then there must be something wrong with the recording. I would try capturing from tape only the bad part and see what happens... charlie

Hi Charlie,

I haven't captured from the tape, but I did watch it back and it's fine. played the M2T file in Squeeze and the audio there is fine, it's definitely and import problem. I first thought it was a cable issue, I took a house feed (it was speeches) but then realized that the audio from the on-board mic was exactly the same. when I looked at the tape the audio plays fine in that section.

yeah, I can capture from the tape, but I want to figure out what's causing it so I can avoid having to do that in the future. I'm thinking maybe it's a RAM issue, not enough LOL

(it's HDV which I have brought in before w/o incident, but they were all normal, short clips)
