z7 can't power 2 phantom mics simultaneously?
Just took delivery the other day of a Z7, and not sure if this is by design or if there is something wrong with this unit.
I have the supplied shotgun mic in input 1 with phantom power on it works fine in either input. If I select it to have channel 1 got to 1 and channel 2 go to 2, and plug a wired phantom powered lav into input 2, it doesn't work.(it does work on battery) Same if I put my Sennheiser shotgun in input2, nada. Now if I reverse and put the Sony shotgun in input two and the Senn in input 1 it seems to work. Haven't tried that with the lav... anyone have any ideas why the "normal" scenario with sony Shotgun in input 1 and another phantom powered mic in input2 one gets nothing from input2? |

Weird. I use two phantom powered mics pretty regularly. Does your phantom power have an unusually high current draw? Is it standard 48v?

standard stuff, Sennheiser ME66 shotgun and an AT lav. I concur, weird. I have a shoot in the morning and will try it again and see what happens.
