Tape and CF cards

I've recently sold my Z1 and looking for a Z7 mainly because of the portable recorder (MRC-1?) one of the questions I have is when you're recording on both tape and disk, and if the tape runs out first, does the disk continue recording while you're changing tapes? and I'm also assuming it can record tapeless...

Lastly, can the disc recorder seperate the files each time your press record? or does it treat it like one huge continuous file?

Thanks!
K

Hi Kevin, yes the CF continue recording when you eject the tape, yes the Z7 can record tapeless, yes a new file is created each time you press the start/stop button.

There are a couple settings you can have w/ the CF card. One is that it starts recording on the card when the tape has something like 5min left (I forget exactly) & will keep recording until you put a new tape in, plus a few extra min for pad (I believe that is what I remember reading).

Try to see if you can download a pdf manual off Sony's website & it will go into exact detail on how it works.
