Z7 Question
I am not sure if I am an idiot or what but here goes. How do I record DV footage on a tape and HD on the cf card? This has got to be easy to do, I am just not understanding what I have to do. If anyone could give me a step by step procedure I would appreciate it.

set your record mode on the tape deck deck in your camera menu, then set up your CF record mode on your MRC unit menu.

The cf card gets set to whatever I have the camera mode set to, even though I have the ctrl set to off, so the cf should be set separately.

Another Question
This is not related, but I have searched high and low for the assignable "RET" button that is supposedly somewhere on the lens. Even after watching the VAASS training video, I can not find the button, which is probably hiding in plain sight. Can anyone point it out?
Thanks very much. |

As a recent owner of the Z7 my understanding is you can record HDV to tape while recording HDV or down-converted SD to CF - but you can't record SD DV to tape and HDV to CF. There isn't a way for the camera to up-convert to the CF.

Thanks Scot. I sure thought you could record sd to tape while recording hd to card, but is sure doesn't look like it. Thanks.
