iLink cable for Sony HDV Z5
Hi,
I am upgrading from a 2007 iMac that have 2 firewire 400 ports to a 2010 Macbook Pro that have only one Firewire 800 port and a ExpressCard 34 slot. In order to capture the Z5 footage to the Final Cut in the Macbook Pro could I use the i.Link cable that I used on my current iMac? Are all the i.Link cables compatible with a 400 and 800 Firewire port or do I need a special i.Link 800 cable? Thanks for your advice!!! |

Firewire 800
Did you find an answer yet? You would either need an adapter that fits on the end of a fw400 plug to convert it to fit in the fw 800 slot of the Macbook pro, or a new cable with a black, square fw 800 plug on it. They are becoming increasingly common thankfully, but when I first got my Macbook Pro a couple of years ago it was not easy to find the 800 cables here where I live at least.
