Tape and Card Sync
Hi,
Apologies if the answers are already here - I did a search and couldn't find anything. We've just bought 2 Z5s and one of the main reasons was so we could shoot simultaneously on card and tape, with the tape acting as an archival back up. The problem is, when we capture the footage from tape and from card, it does not capture frame accurate to both. Is there a way around this or is it unavoidable? Ideally, we would have an identical (frame accurate) copies on both card and tape. Thanks. |

The tape transport and the CF recorder do not start or stop recording at the same time and as far as I know, there is no way to make it work that way. Kind of irritating, for sure.

Yes but I don't really see the point why they should be synchronised. You either use tape or CF when you edit.

Sony CF Card Recorder
Hi
As default the card recorder is set to follow the tape so it will work with older camcorders such as the PD150 etc. This gives a slight delay on the card reader. The unit can be set to stop start with the record button giving full syncro with the tape, I have a full PDF from Sony showing the different configurations. If you would like a copy of the PDF email me at dave.archibold@camerakit.ie |
