Case & Tripod

Hi. I recently purchased a Z5E along with a Libec LS55 Tripod. My dad is heading over to Nepal in April and is taking the camera with him. Unfortunately the tripod is too big for the trip overseas. Can anyone advise as to an alternative tripod? Also any suggestion as to a good case for the camera so that it can be taken as hand luggage on the plane?

Many thanks.

I don't know much about tripods but if you want a decent solid case then you can always get one of these: PRO HARD SIDED ALUMINUM DIGITAL CAMERA & CAMCORDER CASE - eBay (item 110356673259 end time Mar-02-09 16:05:14 PST)

I have two of those for 4 years now and no problems at all. One of them even survived a car accident - and it still in fine :-)

I am also currently looking for a case for the Sony Z5 that is small enough to be used as carry on luggage. I came across the LOWEPRO VERTEX 300 BACKPACK. B&H is currently selling them for $249.95. With this case you can also fit up to a 17" laptop with your camcorder.

If the reviews are anything to go by, it looks like a pretty good buy.

James
here is what I used when I went overseas with my Z5

Tripod
Manfrotto by Bogen Imaging | 055XPROB Pro Tripod with 501HDV

Bag
Sony LCS-G1BP Soft Carry Case - WTS Broadcast Limited

and you can put your tripod on top of the bag

I used this bag with my z7 and has more than enough room for all my accessories including charger and batteries.
