Time Lapse / Interval Record

I'm exploring the use of the interval record function. Is anyone aware of a method to trigger the single frame record capability with a timer?

This is not a particularly flexible feature on the Z5. Recording time seems limited to .5, 1, 1.5, or 2 seconds. Interval between recordings limited to 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min, or 10 min. There are also a number of restrictions with regard to recording type and scan type (e.g can't use it with HDV 24p.)

I wanted to so something similar (1 frame every 30 minutes) and ended recording 60i, .5 second recording time, 10 minute interval and created the final time-lapse effect in post. Actually, this approach gave me more flexibility in terms of the final clip.
