Got sand in the focus ring...

My focus ring is making a grinding noise after a days filming at the beach. It's starting to get on my nerves but can't think of any way of cleaning it. Any thoughts?

I would take it in for service. Sand is a wonderfully abrasive element and it's doing your camera no good at all.
